Impossible Music was written with the assistance of the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body, and the Government of South Australia through Arts SA.
A significant part of the first draft was written in Canberra, during the 2016 ACT Eminent Writer Residency, an initiative of the ACT Writers Centre in collaboration with the Gorman House Arts Centre and the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House.
